Happy Labor Day!

It's Labor Day = end of summer, hello fall!? Not quiet fall yet but hopefully soon!! We decided to end our summer with a little painting. Our dining room wall needed some color. Our B&W pics really stand out now! LOVE how dark the grey is. And our front door ... oh my! It's amazing how a small can of paint can add so much class! :) What ya think?

Our First Gardening Experience!

How fun it's been creating our first garden!! {Back to my handy hubby that inspired me to plant lots of fresh produce!} Jason has talked about a garden for a couple of years & finally decided to do it this year! We're both excited with how the design came together & are hoping for a wonderful harvest!

After 2 weeks ... so far so good!

Our garden consists of lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, cilantro, jalapenos, corn on the cobb, strawberries, cabbage, and carrots! (I think that's everything! :)) Stay tuned for more updates from the Bruck's Fresh Farm Produce.

Building a Trellis

Having a handy hubby is fabulous!! I love how he knows how to fix/build most anything ... & enjoys doing it! :) Our covered patio we built last year had to stop on one end because the roof line slanted. We thought long & hard for a solution to the problem & decided to build a trellis, add vines, & it would look great while adding the extra coverage/shade we wanted.
Mason can't let Daddy grab a shovel without him using his too! He loves to help dig, plant, build... anything Daddy does! :)
Such a big helper!
Our new trellis! Hoping the itty bitty vines take off & cover it up!!

Building a shed!

No..this post isn't how to build a shed! :) Sorry if you're were looking for the 411 on shed construction! Refer to google for that! We referred to our handy neighbor, Scott & are so thankful he was able to help us design & build just what we needed!

Jason has wanted a shed for years!! We talked about it a lot in our old house, but once we decided to move, it wasn't worth it. Been in our new house barely a year & he finally got his wish! A shed! :)
I actually love how it turned out! We priced MANY different options all over the place but never could find just what we wanted. We've constructed this baby to our liking-shape, size, & all! It's the complete package!!

Our finished product!
Interior includes custom shelving & hooks of course!

Sneak peak....

How about a sneak peak....

Baby Ayden's nursery is now painted!! {Palm Stem & Lime Curl} The colors are perfect with the "jungle" theme I've selected....hence the picture I used to match. Stay tuned for many more updates as his little jungle comes together!

Free to fab!

From free to fab!

Our neighbors were so kind to give us an "old" dresser of their son's & we took it! A can of stain later & Ayden has his very own dresser for his nursery. :)

Thanks Grandma & Grandpa M. for the new cubby.
It works perfect for storing toys up off the floor!

Another angle...

Big Boy Bed :)
Mason loves his new room. He shows everyone that comes over & tells them all about it.
He naps & sleeps all night in his big boy bed.
(My old bed I've had for a long time & just love!)
We cleaned it up & bought a new mattress & new linens...
still looking for the perfect quilt.

What can you get for $10 at a flea market? This treasure!
I forgot to take a before pic but Daddy cleaned it, tightened its screws, sanded, & stained it for me. I added new hardware & voila! It looks like new. Mason never had a dresser so he was in need... & this one is perfect!

We're so pleased with the upgrade for our little man & how well he has adjusted.
Our life is truly blessed beyond our wildest imagination! :)

Our New Home!

Our soon to be new home! Yay....we are no longer considering homeless or Motel 6 or any other crazy options. We found a home & everything is still on schedule to be closed no later than Nov. 25th! Awesome!! What a wonderful feeling to think we'll be settling in our new home just in time for Thanksgiving. :) I know...we'll be living out of boxes but just to be in the house will be a blessing! Stay tuned for more pics as things unfold....

Contract is in hand - inspection is done - few more hurdles & we're there. Please say a prayer for us that it all works out & we do indeed close on or before Nov. 25th!

Christmas Stockings.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

I can't tell you how long I have waited to be able to hang stockings on the mantle that read DAD, MOM, MASON! :) Each year our stockings were plain, red or green, fuzzy and dull.... now that our family has begun, we're able to each have our very own embroidered Christmas Stocking! We have one more snowflake waiting for a little brother or sister to join our family; maybe by Christmas in a couple of years. :)

Completed closet make-over.

Yes, finally! My office closet is completely organized. Thanks honey for adding the cool shelves for me to use as a bookcase, it works fabulous! Imagine a plain closet with nothing..... & now complete with its very own "bookcase." My plastic bins are each organized with office supplies, scrapbooking accessories, & craft supplies. I am so glad it is over & everything is nestled away nice & neat!

Quiet spiffy...

I really like the scent of this candle but wasn't happy with its plain looking style so I wanted to dress it up a little.....

I think it turned out quiet spiffy with a few scrapbooking supplies to resemble "fall" & a sincere verse "Life is like a flower..." The candle now sits on our entrance table to greet you when you arrive! I brought it out of hiding now & am anxious to light a new lite on our home!

From drab to fab...

So I started with an empty planter that we received a congratulations flower arrangement in back in August. I always really liked the planter so of course I was saving it for the next best thing, my very own plant. No way!
A little creative thinking goes a long way... we LOVE our candy & must support our sweet tooth so I wanted a fun way to keep something sweet available for ourselves & our guests to enjoy. Couldn't have been easier than stuffing a little paper in the bottom, filling with the yummy candy we all love, & last but not least, tieing a ribbon around it!
Here is my finished product, resting cute with one of my (hundred) scarecrows on our entrance table sporting the Harvest theme!

What would I do without RIBBON?!?! Oh I love thee! :) I wanted to add a little pizazz to my utensil crock to spice it up for my Harvest theme... I already know what ribbon I will be changing to for my Christmas theme. HeHe :)

What does $10 buy at a craft store?

So I've been feeling a little crafty & re-decorating... Mason's bathroom needed some more color to go with his bright - striped - cloth - shower curtain that I love! He has his rubber duckies as accents & I am working on another project for that so stay tuned. In the mean time, a visit to Michaels, less than a $10 bill, & a few supplies later ..... you have ............

I couldn't decide if I wanted RUB-A-DUB (which would have been super cute with his duckies) or SPLISH-SPLASH so I ended up with just SPLASH. I think it turned out pretty fabulous though! His towels hang below; a kaki one to match the rugs, with a solid red on top, & lastly a white one with little froggies & ducks. Cute!

Kitchen Update

Our kitchen update is complete...for now. :) Final thing to add will be new counter tops. We've always had red accents but the red walls really add a nice touch, we love it!
