Ayden's 1st day of Kindergarten

Phew ... just like that. We have a KINDERGARTNER! When did Ayden grow so fast? These past 5 years have flown by with him!! He was beyond ready to start school. Years of mother's day out, learn & play class, & zoo preschool - this boy was READY! We are SO excited for a fun year in a brand NEW school with a super fun teacher!!! :)

How can it by --- our little man is ready for 1st grade! Oh my!

I will admit, this year has been awesome! LOVE his teacher (our close friend before she was his teacher). Had a great experience as 1st time room mom. Couldn't have asked for anything else. :) BUT --- I am so happy its over, kinder graduation that is. I was on the board & EEEK .... from ideas we had that weren't approved to the final day of & things changed last minute; so happy no more stress! I know the kiddos had no idea but I us parents sure did. I designed the programs, slideshow, & pretty cute cupcake towers {last minute} for Mason's big day! The slideshow had lots of hiccups but once done-it was beautiful. Lots of rude families this year that stood & talked so others were distracted, poo!

Sophie is his BFF of course but Andi sure does adore him. She loves to be around him at school, ALL the time! We even went to her birthday party at the zoo a few weeks ago. They have signed up for zoo camp together this summer as well. :):)

Sock Hop '14

Mason had HIS first Sock Hop last week! We've gone before but as Daddy's family ... this was so much fun this time going as a student & parent. Seeing Mason have fun was totally worth the 2 hours of crazy kids, loud music, fried chicken dinner, rootbeer floats, photo booths, flashing gear, face painting, & a silent auction. :)

100th Day of Kindergarten 2014

Mason celebrated the 100th day of Kindergarten today!! He was assigned a project. He could do anything he wanted to show the 100th day. He chose a poster. He glued 100 smarties & wrote his message: I am 100 days SMARTER. Thank you Mrs. Vasani!

WP Winter Celebration

Another December festivity.....the week before break..... Masons winter party! As room Mom, I hosted a fun fun party! Can't believe I just participated in my first school party, yikes! Boys are growing too fast! I set up each students work area with a gingerbread house kit that they got to construct and decorate. There were so many fun toppings! They wrapped their teacher as a snowman and had yummy snacks. Suh a fun time!

Winner!

Found a picture in my camera from Mason's trophy - Walk a Thon Winner! (participant that reached his/her goal received one) He was so so proud! His little trophy has his name & everything!!

Walk-a-Thon!

Mason took part in his 1st Walk-a-Thon experience!! It was so much fun to watch him with his class & be a part of such a wonderful fundraiser. The school's PTA does a fabulous job & this is the school's top fundraiser for the entire school. They topped their goal this year by raising over $30,000. The students were able to see lots of fun, rewarding, things in return: principal dressed like a chicken in a tree, they got to slime her, silly string her, see the teachers dress wild & crazy, be served ice cream, & get out of dress code for a week with enough donations. Mason met them all of course! He was so excited to get all of his prizes! And his name was one of the 3 recipients for the grand prizes: laptop/game system, bike, mini ipad.... we won the IPAD! We NEVER win anything - it was so cool!! :) I volunteered to take a group of kids & was given 4 cute little boys. Its hard on such little legs, we barely made 3 laps!

Mason's 3rd week of school & he brought home his first reader. We have a specific book each week & a reading log we complete each night. It's amazing to watch him learn & grow. I really didn't know what to expect with learning to read. I thought things were going to be much harder than they were. I will say-the main lesson learned, don't force him to read when he's already in a bad mood but take it a little at a time & definitely change things up a bit. :)

A little homework....

Week 1 is done & we're starting a little homework... love to see my big boy practicing! Of course, Ayden had to get in on the action too. :)

Dear Mason ...

I wonder what you're doing right now, & if everyone is treating you kind.

I hope there is a special person, a nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if the teacher knows just how special you are to me.

And if the brightness of your heart is something she can see.

I wonder if you are thinking about me, & if you need a hug.

I already miss the sound of your voice, & how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand how hard it is for me to let you grow.

On this day know that my heart breaks,

for this is the first step in letting my baby go.

Your first day of kindergarten is completely hard to believe. Seems like a few short years ago I was holding your sweet little body in my arms for the very first time. I always told myself that these years were going to fly by & to cherish each one. Now I look back & realize that is so true...they have gone by way too fast! As I woke you this morning, your first words were "Mama, I'm too tired for kindergarten" but you quickly became excited. You couldn't wait to get to school & see your teacher. I know you are in wonderful hands & with Daddy down the hall, you really are in a safe place. Here is to a fabulous year of kindergarten little man!

Mama & little brothers can't wait for you to get home, we miss you! ;)
